DAY 4: DIYAR INTERNATIONAL MARKET, 2151 S. Parker Rd., S. Parker Rd. Corridor

Diyar International Market is owned and operated by an Iraqi Kurdish family and is a very fine little market--particularly known for it's fresh baked breads.

This woman is baking tandoori bread-- a very large, flat bread that is shaped on the pillow in front of her and then tossed in the tandoori oven, behind, to bake.  One can order them as she goes.  After they're baked, she puts them in a huge plastic bag (as the bread itself is huge!) for you to take home.  There were also bags of "samoon" bread, made that morning, that were available.  They are a "pillowy" bread, somewhat like a Mexican bolillo or baked sopapilla.  Diyar attracts customers from around Aurora and beyond, who come every morning to take a number and stand in line for these breads.

Diyar also grills fresh Iraqi lamb kabob every day for take-out, and they are incredible with tandoori bread!  We took home a box of 18 skewers for $21.00.
packaged Lavash breads (whole wheat!)
Diyar has a Halal (meat butchered locally following Islamic Halal laws) meat department.  The above are cuts of goat.  For those who love goat meat and don't know where to get it in the Denver area, the Halal markets all carry a variety of cuts.
imported grocery items

deli items made in house: baklava, olives and colorful pickles--cucumber, carrots, beets, cabbage, etc.

Diyar also carries good quality produce at a very good price
